We equip youth ages 6 to 17 with the confidence to defend themselves using street-ready techniques. Simultaneously, we build the confidence and life skills they need to:
- Understand they have real value as a person
- Say "No" to peer pressure
- Walk away from conflict
- Set realistic goals and achieve them
- Stand up for their beliefs
- Avoid dangerous situations
- Defend themselves when necessary
- and much more
Given kids' involvement with school, peer pressure is already most likely hindering them on a daily basis. We want to make sure our students do not engage in any hand-to-hand combat if at all possible, especially with other youth at school. They will be taught three ways to intentionally resolve drama before ever throwing a punch. The first is developing the confidence in themselves to walk away from harmful conflict or verbally abusive individuals. The second is to learn valuable communication skills to try to talk the potential threat into a peaceful resolution. Most arguments and verbal battles are based on a lack of communication or misunderstanding. The final thing to try would be to run away, if at all possible, to avoid the fight. In our view, almost always cause more drama and trouble; scarcely ever has it solved a problem.
This is the best life insurance policy you can have for your child. The investment that is made is relatively small in importance to the value of your young student being able to defend themselves, should the occasion ever arise.
Dale McCutcheon's Martial Arts is a proud member of the international organization: Martial Artists Against Bullying (MAAB). Our mission and the mission of MAAB is to educate, inform, and help eradicate bullying. We are pleased to offer an anti-bullying outreach program with the goal of minimizing the effects of predatory behavior with children in grades first through twelfth. Using role-playing, small group discussions, and empathy training, we can help children of all ages overcome the negative impact of bullying.
This program teaches our youth:
- Awareness - How to identify predatory behavior
- Avoidance - Realistic ways to avoid being a target of bullying
- Assertiveness - How to stop bullying behavior
